Charles Olin Vivian and Agnes Olin

Charles Edward Olin, son of Willard Olin and Ellen McGillivray, was born August 17, 1896 in Grand Rapids, Itasca Cty, MN; died July 13, 1967 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, MN[1]; m: May 14, 1918 Grand Rapids, Itasca Cty, MN to Vivian Frances Bailey. Charlie came from a very musical family and could play both mandolin and fiddle. His father, Willard, played at barn dances and it was probably there that Charlie became acquainted with the Bailey girls. He would visit the Bailey home and accompany Florence Bailey's piano playing with his fiddle. He and Vivian eloped while she was just 14 years old. Charles owned the first taxi cab (1914 Ford) in Bovey, was a roofer and a veteran of WWI[2 ]. Charlie could build anything from the ground up.

Charlie and Vivian had 10 children:

Chuck OlinAgnes Vivian Olin b: August 27, 1918 in Duluth, MN, d: August 27, 1997 in Fridley, Anoka Cty, MN. She m: Frank M. Shimek and they had three sons, one of whom is deceased-(Gary Lee Shimek b: August 14, 1956 and d: August 1970 in Minneapolis, MN) Photo on right is of Agnes with her mother, Vivian.

Mary Jane Olin b: January 1 1921 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, married June 29, 1940 in Minneapolis to Elmer Schweigert, died October 12, 2016 in Minneapolis.

Wayne Gilbert Olin (Buddy) b: February 21, 1923 in Duluth, MN d: July 24, 1923 in his mother's arms at St. Mary's hospital in Duluth of congenital hydrocephalous and was buried at Park Hill Cemetery. The records erroneously list him as Wagner Olin and there is no headstone. He was named for his father's good friend Wayne Gilbert.

Charles Edward Olin, Jr. b: October 30, 1932 in Minneapolis, died November 1, 1981 in Minneapolis, MN. He married and had 2 children. Chuck could build anything. He was a hard working, quiet, gentle man.

Charles OlinShirley Ann Olin b: May 2, 1934 in Minneapolis, d: August 14, 2010 in Arizona. She m:Leroy Tillman and had 2 sons and 2 daughters. Shirley was a beautiful woman who was talented on so many levels. She could play accordian, paint, sew, and was very innovative. Memorial poster.

Gerald OlinGerald Richard Olin born April 13, 1942 in New Brighton, MN, died June 14, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. He had 1 son and 1 daughter.
